FRiday Prayer Blessings for Derby and DCM

Friday Prayers of Blessing for Derby and Derby City Mission

Heavenly Father, we take upon ourselves the mantle of authority that Jesus delegates to us and
in His Name we speak to every household in this City of Derby and surrounding area and say to you:-‐
"We bless you in the Name of the Lord. We bless your marriages that they may be strong and
whole. We bless the relationships between each marriage partner that they may be loving,
forgiving, merciful and strong. We bless every inter-‐generational relationship within each
household that there may be peace and love and understanding flowing between each one.
In Jesus' name we bless every network of wholesome and supportive friendship.
We bless your health that you may be strong and well. In Jesus' name we resist any sickness or
disease which seeks to invade this City and to every person in the surrounding area we say, be
well, be strong, be healthy. To any who are sick right now we say we bless you in Jesus' name
with a speedy recovery.
We bless your wealth that you may have plenty to replace poverty. We bless you to have
enough to live and enough to give. We bless the work of your hands that whatever you turn
your hand to which is wholesome may be profitable. We bless every wholesome enterprise that
is conducted by you that it may prosper and be successful. We bless the shops and restaurants
in every good that you do.
We bless the Residential Homes for the elderly, that they may be secure, safe and peaceful
places where those who live there may be loved and cared for in a way that maintains their
dignity.
We bless Pre-‐school, Schools, colleges and universities (name those within the City or those
that you know the name of), that they may be secure, safe places for teachers and pupils alike.
We bless the children's capacity to learn and develop relationships and we bless their simple
trust in Jesus that their trust may grow and become enriched.
We speak to the Churches, (name as many that you know) and we say we bless you in the Name
of the Lord that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God may flow out from you in power. We bless
the hearts of all who live in and work in this town and surrounding area, that the overspill of the
blessings of the presence of the Kingdom of God may fall upon you."

We Bless the Derby Street Pastors may they be courageous, loving and merciful to all they meet. May you give them strength in their task and protect them from Evil.

We Bless the Healing on the Streets Teams may they know the power of the Holy Spirit and may the Gospel be in their hearts and upon their lips as they share it with people in Derby.

We bless the Jubilee project liberate the poor and free the captives of debt, oppression and spiritual darkness.

We bless every food parcel that is given that it may feed hungry hearts and touch weary souls.

We speak blessing over the finances of DCM and say may they know riches that they might give to the poor and needy and liberate people from oppression.

For the homeless may you have a home not just a place to stay, to the addict we proclaim freedom, to the lost may you be found. Lord Jesus send Revival and may God kingdom come and His will be done in Derby.
Amen

"The power of prayer has never been tried to its full capacity. If we want to see mighty wonders of divine power and grace wrought in the place of weakness, failure and disappointment, let us answer God's standing challenge, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not!'" (J. Hudson Taylor) Great Missionary and founder of the China Inland Mission.

The primary focus of this DCM newsletter is prayer. In January I took three days to visit Ffald –Y-Brenin (http://www.ffald-y-brenin.org/ ) A retreat centre in West Wales following reading “The Grace outpouring” by Roy Godwin it’s author and centre director. Whilst I was there I had several profound encounters with the Holy Spirit. By the end of my stay I was being drawn by the Lord to spend longer and longer with Him in prayer. My time there had a great effect on me.

The day I left I travelled home via the Blaenannerich Chapel the place where the fire of the Holy Spirit fell upon Evan Roberts and the Welsh revival was born seeing 100,000 souls swept into the Kingdom of God. I remember sitting in the seat where he was touched by the Holy Spirit and said to the Lord in my heart “Bend me also Lord …and make me a man of prayer”

I am convinced that the Lord Jesus wants to do a great work in this City. As I walk the streets of Normanton and Osmaston and pray for the homes and the people in them. I can sense the tug of the Holy Spirit saying “call on me for these people” “ Stand in the gap for the poor, the drug addict, the alcoholic, the person in the prison of debt, the young, the harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” “Call on me….. to Revive my church in this City”

The great AT Pierson wrote these words There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.”

So this year of 2012 we are seeking to increase the prayer life and frequency of Derby City Mission. This lent we are embarking on 40 days of prayer and fasting for DCM. Would you like to join us in this?

So I am asking you, would you begin to daily call on the Lord for Derby, its church and the work of the Mission in a more earnest way? And would you join us whether in person, or at home or work every first Monday of the month to pray and fast for the work of DCM. Or perhaps join us every Friday in praying the prayer of blessing on the prayer guide for Derby.

Whatever I am convinced this is a time like never before to pray and seek the Lord … this city and this nation needs a fresh visitation of Him ……

750 and Counting

Well tomorrow at last the staff at DCM get a break for Christmas. This last month has been hard work as it is the busiest period with people requiring food parcels, the Christmas rush on Street Pastors, deputations and preaching in Derby Churches. However the busiest period has been Christmas Connection as we have found presents for 750 children accross the City. We have partnered with over 30 churches and Westfields to find the neediest in our City a present.

As public sector jobs are lost and many families stare in fear into 2011 would you stand with us as either volunteer prayer partner or supporter as we seek to bring the Whole Gospel for the Whole Person to the Whole City... So may you know the miracle of Jesus in your heart and be born again the Christmas... To all of you from myself as Director, Robin the Operations Manager, and Sharon our other City Missionary, Trustees and volunteers we wish you a very very Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year.

News from the Streets

Well the Street Pastors have come through yet another Halloween weekend. Lately in fact since freshers week have been very busy in the City. Sadly despite all our efforts Alcohol related violence has risen and things are much more hostile on Friday and Saturday nights. On one evening recently we called 5 ambulances in 2 hours. The cases were for a 17 year old boy badly intoxicated with cannabis and alcohol. Another call was for a young single Mum fitting as a result of an Ecstacy/Alcohol cocktail. Then we are dealing with a man who's ear has been bitten through by someone in a fight. However we are convinced that Jesus is in all this. We believe that WWJB means Where Would Jesus Be.. We think the early hours of a Sunday morning he would be ministering love and care to people who need it.

This week at our Jubilee project we heard of a tragic tale of an impoverished single Mum who had been charged £150 bank charges by her bank for being a tiny bit over her £50 overdraft level. We made a complaint and were then able to help her clear her debts. In fact last week we were able to get several thousnad pounds worth of debt paid off for people thus getting them free and allowing them to sleep again. We have been so blessed in the quality of our excellent volunteers who serve the clients so well.

A huge thank you to all who gave to our Harvest Basics Bank Food appeal Chruches and School from all over Derbyshire gave so generously we estimate over £20,000 worth of food has been donated ot help us relieve poverty and to help make peoples lives better. Special thanks should go to John and Sylvia Gatt and Einir Cooper who along with the other stalwart volunteers Sue Smith, Sylvia, Karl and Andy and Ruth have done an amazing job in bringing in the harvest sorting it and administering it all.............. an amazing feat.

Recovery Project. we now have over 45 clients coming to this each week and are partnering with Restore to reach out to sex workers who come into the project. It is great to see this project which is a prtnership between Ozzy Road Church, YWAM DCM and now Restore take shape and begin to see lives turn around...... For myself Alasdair it is the highlight of my week !

The Healing in the Streets conference despite the down pour went really well with one lady being healed as we prayed for her and just now I took a call from a lady who we had prayed with on the streets the other day asking where she could find a church where Gods power was as she wanted to join a church where God was .......... providentially I had lots of choice in Derby !

Over 60 Christians from 21 differrent churches came together for the conference and we are so excited to see what God is doing in Derby through His church.... It really is the Hope of the World...

Please pray for the fulltime staff at DCM, the other day we calculated that we now have over 200 volunteers working accross the various projects we run and as you can imagine that takes some administrating and caring for.... So please don't fgeel forgotten we can just get very busy at times......
